FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

The impact of IT-based home-care services on Citizens, Health Care Systems and Industry

European health care systems are facing a period of unprecedented changes prompted by a confluence of events: from the evolving attitudes of end-users and changes in demographics, to the underway technological revolution in health care (e-health), triggered by advances in information technology; to, finally, the recent advances in genomics and its foreseen substantial impact on health care.
For the first time, the health care sector is becoming a significant driving force in the technology evolution process.
In this new scenario, integrated delivery systems based on patient-centred care, supported by an intensive use of information technology (IT), will facilitate the most efficient use of the existing resources in the health care system.
The new situation is imposing important challenges to: a) health care professionals; b) health providers and social insurers; and, c) industry; with an enormous impact on the final users, the citizens.
The Conference is intended to provide sound concepts, experience and criteria to any one involved in decision making within the health care system. To this end, it will bring together a selected world-wide group of speakers from the health care community, industry, governments, academia and users that are playing an active role in the area.
The conference will consist of tutorial courses, Keynote speeches and presentation of technical and scientific papers
